First fall meeting of the Piney Woods Wildlife Society on September 16 at Mercer Arboretum!
This past summer, longtime PWWS members David and Ednelza Henderson spent two weeks in the state of Roraima on Brazil's far northern frontier while visiting family in the state capitol of Boa Vista.
At the September 16 PWWS meeting, they will show photographs and describe the area as a combination of the Florida Everglades and Southeast Arizona's mountains with rainforests, clearwater streams and lakes feeding into a river that dwarfs the Mississippi. The state's wildlife includes jaguars, anteaters, tortoises, lizards, exotic fishes, insects, and plants, and as many bird species as occur in all of the U.S. and Canada.
The Hendersons experienced and photographed the state's natural heritage while gaining a deep appreciation for the area's frontier culture. Everyone is invited to join David and Ednelza Henderson as they share their perspective on this very unique land.
